Littore Family Wines – announces a new Director of Winery Operations

Spanning three generations of winemaking excellence Littore Family Wines is a proudly Australian owned and operated company. From a small vineyard and citrus property in Sunraysia, Vince and David Littore have grown the company holdings to include 3,000 acres of vineyards making the Littore family one of the largest independent winegrape growers in Australia.

From August 2008 this constantly evolving company, better known for its Jindalee range of wines, will continue its development phase with the appointment of David Thompson as Director of Winery Operations.

“We are very excited to have David on board, his experience and industry knowledge will add further credibility to the current expansion commitment at our Geelong based winery. I see David’s relocation to Geelong with his family as a dedicated commitment to the wines of Jindalee and Idyll Vineyards” Director of Littore Family Wines, Vince Littore said.

David Thompson brings a depth and breadth of experience to the table. Commencing as a young cellar hand, working around the Mudgee and Sunraysia areas he graduated to vintages in Western Australia, the Barossa, Coonawarra, McLaren Vale and further abroad to Chile and France.

More recently David headed up winemaking at Simeons’ Buronga Hill winery, followed by a stint at Neqtar in Mildura.

“A sound understanding of commercial wine making is vital to this role, combined with experience and knowledge of both the domestic and export markets. It is imperative that we meet and exceed the expectations of our customers in everything we do.” Mr Thompson said.

This appointment comes on the back of a significant investment in the Littore Family Wines Geelong winery. A $20 million investment in 2008 has resulted in a state of the art 15 000T winery and the addition of a sparkling wine production facility.
